50 Ae Glock - The name makes it sound like a crazy prohibitionist, but .50 caliber Glocks are real. Guncrafter Industries makes conversion slides for the G21 and G41 to take the 50GI cartridge. Slides are a budget alternative to the $4,000 ultimate long slide 1911, their Model 4. Ranging from $595 to $660, these slides take 50GI caliber shooting at a price well below the 1911 standard.
Holding ten or nine rounds in a slightly longer magazine, this change gives more room for more punch on the gun. The theory behind this cycle is simple: why use some of the kinetic energy to propel a projectile when it can be launched already propped up?
50 Ae Glock
The 50GI is a low-end accessory along the lines of the .455 Webley class. At the same pressure as the 45ACP, it is easy to shoot and produces equally fast follow-up hits, something not seen with the 50AE or 50S&W. They increase ammo ratings from 185gr at 1200fps to 275gr at 875fps and 300gr JSP for training and hitting tough wildlife. At 700 fps, the 300gr load is about the same power level as the 44 Special – a soft, easy-to-pull stage that works well for quick second and third shots when needed. More bullets are designed for thin-skinned enemies, with the 230-grain bullet punching a hole a foot deep and an inch wide. The light weight of 185 gr stands at 9 inches but creates a wide path. Actual chronographed velocities were closer to the 4.5-inch barrel and higher than the 5-inch barrel.

The full copper projectiles are very effective at converting the blades into velocity increases without breaking or bending within them. Muzzle flash was minimal in all the loads I tested (185, 230, 275 and 300).
As you can see, the recessed rim allows for a 45ACP breechface. Magazines are easy to carry with just your fingers. Depending on the load, there was very little to little muzzle twist, which was true based on the 45ACP experience. The downside of Glock's conversion to the 1911's excellent long slide was the reduction in accuracy. From 10 yards my nine-shot groups were around 2.25 inches, the 1911's sight radius was longer and the seven-shot groups printed within an inch. But with the #4 longslide, the group size at 10 feet was smaller than the size of a stretched bullet! With Glocks, it wasn't good, although the difference was more ergonomics than equipment mechanics.
Because 50GI ammo is expensive, shooters are expected to deal more with the 45ACP up and carry the 50GI up. Considering the similarity of the shooting experience of the two types and the high reliability of conversion, this is the right way. Unlike powerful cartridges such as the 10mm Auto and 44Mag, the 50GI does not destroy the shooter during training and is a long range of hearing that is not protected by subsonic loads.
Compared to the stock Glock magazine, the conversion loses a bit of capacity from 13 + 1 to 8 + 1. Each bullet has a 22% forward area before and after expansion. The deal is up to you. Is it worth taking nine solid shots before reloading, or five more before the mag needs to be replaced?

As you can see, there are additional barrels. Although they only increase the speed, they are a sweeper's choice for suppressors. While the 50GI is only available at Guncrafter Industries, several reloading recipes offer a few starting loads. Cooked rice can be reused many times.
